On Tuesday, MAY 5, QJH will be hosting a Financial Literacy Math Family Night. The event will begin at 5:00, and end at 6:30 in the JH/HS cafeteria. Bring your parents, come and learn more about financial literacy, and have some pizza too! There will be various stations set up for you and your family to visit. Pizza, drinks and cookies will be provided. This event is for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

UPDATE ON ONE ACT PLAY PERFORMANCE: THERE WILL BE NO PERFORMANCE FRIDAY, MARCH 13. THE DINNER AND PERFORMANCE IS STILL ON FOR TONIGHT. Our award-winning One Act Play will present the full musical version of Bridge to Terabithia this week. Thursday, March 12th, will be a dinner theatre performance with the meal being served at 5:30 and the performance at 6:00 cost will be $10.00.

Why do we wear RED on Wednesdays?? Some students have asked what the RED shirts are for that many of the staff are wearing on Wednesdays. These shirts are in support of our troops that are deployed in various parts of our world, defending our freedom and keeping us all safe. Our own Coach Bevis’ husband, Adam, is in Korea, and as a staff, we are wearing these each Wednesday in support of him and his sweet family until he is able to come home. Coach Bevis, we stand behind you and appreciate the sacrifice you and your family make for our country. We encourage students who would like to join us by wearing a red t-shirt each Wednesday.

Our award-winning One Act Play will present the full musical version of Bridge to Terabithia next week. Thursday, March 12th, will be a dinner theatre performance with the meal being served at 5:30 and the performance at 6:00 cost will be $10.00. Friday, March 13th, will be a performance only at 6:00, the entry fee will be $5.00.

Cafeteria and library fines are posted on Coach Shack’s window. Any student wanting to attend the PRIDE Trip will have this week to take care of those balances.

Family Groups will be meeting Friday, March 13. We will also be on pep rally schedule.

Any 7th and 8th grade girl who might be interested in participating in the Dogwood Fiesta Pageant will need to attend one of the informational meetings on March 11th or March 25th in the Library during our second breakfast.

We want to wish good luck to our student athletes that are competing in the track meet today in Mt. Vernon. Give it all you’ve got!

All mock tryouts for cheer (JH & HS) will be tomorrow (Tuesday) from 3:35-5:30. Tryouts will be on Wednesday after school. Do NOT stay for cheer today.

QISD will be closed for Spring Break from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20. Also, Monday, March 23rd is a scheduled Staff Development day. Classes will resume as scheduled on March 24th.

8th grade parents: If your child is currently eligible for the field trip, one of these will be sent home with them today (March 6). Please note the payment deadline is March 26. Due to having to get numbers and payment to the university ahead of time so they can order supplies, this is the final deadline for payment. If your child has not submitted payment by that date, they will not be able to attend this field trip. Also attached is a copy of the original letter sent out back in January with specific information about the trip. Permission slips will be sent home after Spring break for those that have paid by the deadline.

Today, 6th grade students, were visited by Rabbi Alan Learner of the Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Tyler. He spoke to the students about antisemitism and the importance of learning about the Holocaust in school, and the effects it has on today's society. Most importantly, the students learned that when it comes to identifying what race they're a part of, the correct answer is, the HUMAN RACE where we are encouraged to give respect & love to one another to eradicate hate.

This is the Last Call for 8th Grade Tshirt orders. The cost is $11. Order forms and money are due to Mrs. Johnson by THIS Friday, March 6th.

Today’s Spotlight is shining on….Mrs. McKenzie A parent shared a spotlight with us, telling us how Ms. McKenzie walked her daughter to the car to ensure her safety. Way to go, Mrs. McKenzie. We are SO blessed to have you on our campus. Now, who else has the Bulldog Spirit? Let’s see it QJH!!
