Dear QJH Parents, This year QJH is hosting the District UIL Academic Meet. In order to accommodate the almost 300 students competing, we will be allowing QJH students ONLY that are not involved in the UIL Meet on Tuesday, December 10th, to sign out early. Buses will NOT be running at this time and this is NOT a district-wide early release. It is optional. Parents who wish to sign their student out must do so in the front office beginning at 1:15. If someone else if picking up your child, the office must have written note to Ms. Reyes by 10:30 AM. This note needs to be signed by the parent with the name of the person with whom the student is leaving. If you have any questions, please call the QJH Office at (903)763-5000 ext. 2. Thank you, QJH Staff

Today begins our campus PENNY WARS… each class will collect pennies and bring them to Ms. Reyes’ Office up front. If you want to bring silver, you can place it in another grade’s bucket to count against their total. The winning grade will be announced before the end of the day Friday and get an ice cream treat the following Monday. The money collected will be donated to the Christmas Caring & Sharing to help with items they need for Christmas gifts in our community. Penny War will last until Friday at NOON!!!!

Melanie Whitehurst, the newly appointed chief of Wood County Juvenile Probation, presented to all 6th through 8th grade students today about the realities of juvenile probation and the consequences of negative choices. Mrs. Whitehurst was accompanied by three other juvenile probation officers from Wood County and together they described a typical day in juvenile detention, possibly legal charges, and how those charges affect a student's future and possible life and career choices.

Mr. Nikia Smith, with Longview PARTS (Parents & Adolescents Recovery Treatment Services), was on campus today talking to our junior high school students about the dangers of vaping. Special thanks to Melanie Whitehurst at Wood County Juvenile Probation for recommending Mr. Nikia Smith as a speaker! Mr. Smith presented in an entertaining way a very serious and relevant topic to today's teens.
