Why are School Meals so Important?

Cafeteria Facts  (Video)

For some kids, lunch at school may be the last healthy meal of the day. Almost 3 out of 5 low-income parents say it is difficult to afford food for their kids to eat after school meals. On average, 13% of households in rural areas experience hunger. 54% of the enrolled students at Quitman depend on government supplemental food programs to combat hunger. This means that 696 students may be food insecure at home, so we know if they go to bed hungry they show up to school hungry. We all need to do our very best to encourage our students to start their day with a healthy school breakfast.
