
REMEMBER that next week will be STAAR testing on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so the campus will be closed for lunch. No one can eat with students because some students may be testing during that time. We will be open again to parents and grandparents for lunch on Thursday.

March of the Blue will take place as planned tomorrow for K students and senior graduates. The āMarchā will begin at 8:30 on the elementary campus and continue to secondary campus. All are welcome!

Quitman ISD will not have classes Thursday, May 9 due to concern about flooding and continued rain. See Superintendent Turnerās post on the district App and Facebook.

Parents please be patient as we try to get your children home to you. Our buses are on their routes and going slow. We are also making sure there is a parent or an adult home before we leave the students.

Due to flooding QISD will be releasing students early. Parents may begin to pick their students up immediately. Buses will be boarding at approximately 1:30. If there is no parent or guardian at the house the students will be brought back to their home campus. If the bus can not safely get to your house your child will be brought back to their home campus. Parents that normally pick up their children need to pick them up at their normal pick up area.

DESTINATION AMERICA! Performed by the QES Choir Tuesday night won parents hearts! The choir is under the direction of Mrs. Katrina Morrow, Music teacher.





Mrs. Jenny Howle, QES Art Teacher, meets with students on Fab Friday. This year students studied Monet, Picasso, and VanGogh along with other artists.


A FINE NIGHT FOR THE FINE ARTS at Quitman Elementary School drew a crowd of parents and students showing off their artistic talents. The show is on this week at the school through Thursday.

NEXT WEEK is Teacher Appreciation Week. Our GREAT PTO has planned treats for the teachers - but the greatest gift of all would be a sweet note from your child. If you have time this weekend, sit down and help your child write to his/her teacher!

āThe Cast and Crew for Quitman High School's One Act Play will be competing for the State Title this weekend in Round Rock!!


LUNCH LADY SUPERHEROES are here to save the day at Quitman Elementary School every meal with healthy food and a big smile. We appreciate all their efforts so very much!




LUNCH LADY HERO DAY will celebrate how wonderful QES cafeteria workers are and how much students and staff appreciate them on Thursday. Cafeteria ladies will sport hero tee shirts, capes and a magic mask.

FIRST GRADERS performed When I Grow Up Tuesday night to a packed house of family members at QES! Lots of pictures and lots of smiles!





TEXAS READS with Dallas Cowboys football coach Jason Garrett and parents of third graders on Wednesday at QES. Each student received a copy of the book, Friendship According to Humphrey by Betty C. Birney.




FIFTH GRADE PARENTS! Teachers have decided to cancel the trip to the Zoo. They are concerned about weather and the zoo puts animals inside in bad weather anyway. Instead - students will have a FIELD TRIP in the Multipurpose Room with board games, movies, popcorn and a picnic lunch.

Thanks to our LAW ENFORCEMENT officers for visiting the elementary at lunch today! The kids gave them a loud cheer. We appreciate all you do for us!
