HS theater kids practicing opening number

The Quitman ISD Theatre Department is hard at work preparing for an upcoming musical at the high school level and One Act Play competition at the Junior High level.

On November 28th at 7 p.m., QHS Theatre members will be presenting their performance of "Bulldogs on Broadway." This "Broadway Revue" will feature QHS students performing well-known pieces from several popular musicals. The price of entry will be donations only.

QJH Theatre members have two events on their upcoming schedule. On November 15th at 7 p.m., QJH will have their public performance for their One Act Play performance titled, "Rosie the Riveter." "These kids have been hard at work to make a beautiful show. So, come out and support," stated Director and Theatre teacher, Mr. Hunter Ballard. The price of entry for this performance will also be donations only.

Next, on November 18th at approximately 2 p.m., the QJH OAP cast will compete at the UIL District competition at Winona High School. Per Mr. Ballard, "This is our contest day and it always helps our kids so much when we have an audience that is supporting all that they do. So we encourage everyone in our community to make it to the contest day if they are able. To my understanding, there is no entry price for junior high."

Be sure to mark your calendars and come support all of our students involved in the theatre program at QISD.
