John Herring's geometry class building tiny house

Since 2014, Mr. John Herring's geometry/construction classes have started the school year in the classroom and then progressed outside to build a tiny home. The tiny homes were auctioned off the first couple of years, but now there is usually a waiting list of people wanting to purchase their tiny home from Mr. Herring's class.

This year marks the first time that a class has taken on two projects. The class has already begun both projects. They are currently working on the sub-flooring and floor of a tiny home that is a little larger than some from the past, measuring 16' by 36'. This home has already been pre-purchased and is being built to the owner's specifications.

The class's other project this year is a 16' by 28' storage building. According to Mr. Herring, this building "could easily be converted into a camp house/cabin." This storage building is currently available for purchase. If you are interested, you may contact Mr. Herring at herringj@quitmanisd.net.
