Quitman Independent School District is pleased to announce Nicole Cornish as Director of Teaching and Learning for the 2026-2027 school year, effective June 1st. Mrs. Cornish has served with QISD as High School Assistant Principal and brings 16 years of experience in education and leadership roles to this position. She will help guide and direct our Curriculum and Instruction, help support our interventionists, and oversee QISD's Teacher Incentive Allotment.
Mrs. Cornish began her career as a social studies teacher and debate coach and has served in a variety of leadership roles, including campus testing coordinator, early college high school dean, high school principal, and K-12 curriculum director. As a debate coach, she led students to multiple state-level honors, including four consecutive UIL Class 4A CX Debate State Championships.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Cornish has been known for her focus on student success, strong instructional leadership, and support for teachers. She is a graduate of Baylor University and Lamar University and is currently working on her doctoral degree at Baylor. We are confident that Mrs. Cornish's expertise and dedication will continue to positively impact our students and school district.
