Quitman Advanced Floral Design students, taught by Paulette Aguilar, competed in the Grand Saline Floral Contest Tuesday, March 2.
Alexis O’Neal & Lindsey Hornaday placed in the top 25 in Container Design; Lindsey tied for 2nd and Alexis placed 8th in Tool ID. In the consolation round, Alexis won with her beautiful round bouquet. Kathryn Hudman placed 5th and Brandon Jimenez placed 8th.
It was an amazing educational experience for our students to receive hands on practice. They were able to demonstrate principles of design and mechanics based on the given floral materials.
“This was an amazing opportunity for my students to practice the lessons learned throughout the year, especially in preparation for our Floral 1 Certification”, commented Ms. Aguilar. Other students competing were Kynlee Love, Lucy Brannon, Halie Davis, Keeley Glidewell, and Lizzy Herring.
