In February, QHS freshman Bonnie Vander Schaaf competed with hundreds of other art students from our area at the regional Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) in Tyler. Bonnie earned a perfect score for her drawing "Cornado," and earned a trip to State VASE in San Marcos. It is believed that she is the first QHS student to achieve this distinction. Unfortunately the state event was canceled due to COVID-19 but the artwork was adjudicated digitally on Saturday, April 25. Bonnie's work received a top rating at State and earned her a gold medal.
The mission of the High School VASE is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing high school art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve. Congratulations Bonnie!
