QHS Student Council Earns Recognition

Quitman High School’s Student Council has earned recognition as a Texas Association of
Student Councils Outstanding Student Council. This recognition is based on specific project
areas, participation in TASC programs, and other evaluations. To date, only 337 student councils in Texas have earned this recognition this year.
This year’s student council was involved in hosting the homecoming parade and ceremony,
canned food drive, sock drive, the Veteran’s Assembly, and Crush sales for Valentine’s Day.
They earned the funds to host these activities by selling ads, and by sales of the football
program. Leann Cross, student council sponsor, commented, “The 2019-20 STUCO served with pride and in hopes of inspiring others. We’re honored to be recognized, and had the year
continued, we looked forward to serving our school and community in many more ways.”
