Graduation

Dear Parents and Seniors of the Class of 2020,

I am very excited to let you know that Quitman High School's graduating seniors WILL have the opportunity to walk across the stage and accept your diplomas this year; it will just look a little different. QISD has contracted the services of Chad Parish of Creative Edge Photography to create a virtual graduation which will be aired “live” on the original graduation date of Friday, May 22, 2020, via QISD’s newly created YouTube channel.

Here’s how it’s going to work: On May 11 or 12,  each senior and up to 4 family members will have a scheduled time to report to Bud Moody Stadium in cap and gown, where you will walk across the stage to receive your diploma, have 2-3 still photos taken and record a graduate video. Students who have been chosen for speaking parts will also record their speeches,  and all parts of the graduation ceremony will be pre-recorded.  Creative Edge will then edit the video into a full traditional graduation ceremony. The full video will be uploaded to our QISD YouTube channel (more on that later), and graduates and families will be able to tune in to their graduation together at the scheduled time of 7:00 PM on May 22, 2020. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase graduation photos after the event from Creative Edge Photography’s website.

Graduates will receive a list of upcoming dates and deadlines for events that we are preparing for our graduates, as well as a scheduled time for each individual graduate to report to Bud Moody Stadium. This information will be mailed to each graduate by Thursday, April 23. A copy will also be sent to each senior's school email.

This school year is unique and one that will never be forgotten. While nothing takes the place of an actual “live and in-person graduation,” we believe that this is the next best thing and hope that we can honor our seniors in a special and unforgettable way.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me at hamrickd@quitmanisd.net.

Sincerely,
Dana Hamrick, Principal
