Quitman ISD is located in Quitman, Texas, home of the dogwood trails and a gateway to the famous Lake Fork in the Piney Woods of East Texas. Quitman ISD is a class 2A school district and has a successful academic and athletic record. We pride ourselves in the character and successes of ALL our students.
Quitman, the site selected for the county seat of Wood County, was founded in 1850 and named for John Anthony Quitman. John A. Quitman was governor of Mississippi in 1850 and one of the most prominent citizens in the United States. Quitman is home to the Dogwood Fiesta & Old Settlers Reunion, annual events that bring thousands of visitors to our community each spring and summer. Quitman is also the proud home of actress, Sissy Spacek. In addition to her Oscar nominations and numerous awards, she is a graduate of Quitman High School.
